Who Benefits?

Marines assisting an injured comradeThe Team undertaking this challenge for a cause they truly believe in; the successful rehabilitation of injured Royal Marines.  The C Group is a charity dedicated to supporting the Royal Marines.  Currently where this support is needed most is caring for our wounded.  The C Group helps the recovery pathway by either rehabilitating Royal Marines back into active service or partnering injured Royal Marines with various businesses.  The C Group has a number of members from across the business community, who help in providing the necessary skills to continue their careers in a different direction.  This can be in the form of business partnership, or the provision of training and courses.

Marines reciving rehabilitation care at HeadleyThe C Group also has excellent links with the Royal Marines recovery process.  The first level of recovery is based at the Commando Units, in the form of individual rehabilitation troops which are co-located with the fighting units.  This allows rehabilitation in a familiar environment through Termoli Troop at 40 Commando Royal Marines, Kangaw Troop at 42 Commando Royal Marines and Harden Troop at 45 Commando Royal Marines.  The more serious injuries utilise Hasler Company Royal Marines who are based out of HMS Drake in Plymouth.  The C Group tirelessly works to provide support and assistance where it is most needed.  This varies from the long term support of marines to equipment as a wide selection of important items are not available through the military system.  For example, a swimming pool is being built at 42 Commando Royal Marines to prevent the tiring round trip to Plymouth.

In addition to cycling for The C Group the Commandos' Tour de France will be channelling their money into wider Royal Marines charities.  These charities help provide financial assistance to the families of our fallen comrades and enable the Royal Marines Corps to participate in activities that assist Royal Marines in unwinding and reinvigorating themselves in between challenging operational tours all over the world.

The team believe that the sponsorship that the Commandos' Tour de France generates for the C Group and the other Royal Marines charities will provide a rounded support both immediately and in the long term for one of our elite fighting forces who are constantly deployed on arduous duties around the world.
